Is Tipping Point Ms. Phair?  Probably not.
Is it foolish to speculate?  Definitely not.

Why be scared?  Why be first to declare, "You didn't trick me!"  It's like a disease.

Would the real Ms. Phair be declared an imposter, no matter what she said?  YES
Is such jaded behaviour worthwhile?  NO

Look at Elvis.  He's got impersonators.  Pat Benatar, too.  The list goes on.  Would you run up to an Elvis impersonator and scream, "You didn't trick me!  You're not Elvis!"  That would be pretty funny, actually.  Let us aspire to false Phairs, for they too could be funny.  Maybe.

Fun fact.  Did you know that one of the first "attempts" at artificial intelligence was a computer program called Eliza?  It was supposed to emulate a psychiatric session.  You could type out your problems to Eliza, and "she" would give advice.  Here's a link to a "modren" version.  Tell it that you're scared of Liz Phair imposters, or that you like to dress up in seven veils and sing divorce song to your mesmerized gerbil, or whatever.

Yes, but there are many over at LPF that seem certain that the tipping point is Liz.

You have to keep that in mind when you respond to a tipping point thread.

I agree, Jon.  I think that it's ok to express doubt.  But constructive skepticism works best.  What could it hurt to engage the newcomer in friendly conversation?  That's pretty much what I tried to do.  Unfortunately, it turned into a snowball fight between members.

We should avoid that in the future.
