The gang up at work got permission for us to go on a field trip to watch the new Harry Potter movie. I am not a big fan of the Potter movies. I haven't read the books and I've barely caught a few of the movies, but this was enjoyable for me.
I had a bit of a time following the banter between them and I suppose that it would have been easier if I had been following the series all along, but I was able to pick out most of it and enjoy it.
There were several previews that seemed interesting.
Stardust - This is a fantasy with Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Robert Deniro that really looks interesting. Witches, pirates
Get Smart - Steve Carrell resurrects the Maxwell Smart character and he seems to have it down pat. I just started laughing watching this.

We went and saw Transformers tonight over at the Alamo Drafthouse. Great special effects and lots of humor too.
One of the great lines: "I bought a car. Turned out to be an alien robot. Who knew?"
I recommend this movie.
Post edited--I picked up the right quote from IMDB.

Julie Johnson - Lili Taylor makes another great performance, oh by the way Courtney Love's on it, she and Taylor have a little fling and then things start to get complicated as they both go deep into their feelings. I liked it, a lot. Actually I think Liz Phair did something for that movie soundtrack... I'm going to watch 'The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things' in a few minutes!

We saw Rush Hour 3 here recently. It wasn't as good as Rush Hour 2, but it was still enjoyable.
We saw Stardust almost a month ago, when it first came out. We did like Stardust. Very enjoyable.

My wife and I saw Fool's Gold with Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. Yep, it looked kinda cheesy in the previews, but we really liked it.

If you want to see a rather wickedly funny movie, go out and see "In Bruges" with Colin Farrell and Ralph Fiennes.
It's rather brutal and twisted, but you'll be howling with laughter. And it will be some odd things that you'll find funny.
Black humor, wicked, sick, but really funny.

On our quarterly outing, we took in The Bank Job. I can tell you absolutely that this is NOT a date movie. Action-yes. Interesting-yes. For guys-yes.
I just don't see chicks appreciating the scene in the brothel or the strip joint.
The good date movie is Leatherheads, with George Clooney and Renee Zellweger. I don't think that Renee was the best choice for this role, but this is a perfect vehicle for George Clooney. We laughed and my wife did enjoy herself.

We saw Iron Man (at my son and I saw the film) and we both liked it. My wife isn't interested.
I believe there's a nugget at the end, a little preview for the next movie, if you stay through the entire credits.

We saw Indiana Jones 4 last weekend and loved it.
We also saw Priceless, which is a little French movie that plays kinda like a retelling of Breakfast at Tiffany's, but then goes off in an unexpected direction. It's witty and funny and helps remind me of Europe.

I have a cousin who works as a manager as a movie theater and one of the perks is that she gets to give out free tickets! When I was visiting my uncle we went almost every Friday to see a movie or two. I loved 88 Minutes, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, What Happens in Vegas, Made of Honor, Baby Mama.
