I got a new cell phone about a week ago. It supports music and videos on the cell phone.
The big new format on it is HE-AAC, which is an improvement over AAC (iTunes) at bitrates of 80kbps or less.
I encoded Yo Yo Buddy Yup Yup Word To Ya Muthuh at 56kbps and sound quality seems fine. I used WinAmp to convert to HE-AAC+ with the built-in convert.
The first tape is 21MB, which is smaller than any of the mp3s that I created with lame.
Here are some of the file sizes:
- White Babies: 1338KB
- Shane: 1978KB
- 6 Dick Pimp: 1404KB
- Go West: 1522KB
- Don't Hold Your Breath: 1748KB
- Johnny Sunshine: 1650KB
I'll try to move them back to the Mac and see if I can play them. WinAmp is playing them OK, but that's expected since I created them with WinAmp.
