The predictions for this hurricane were all over the place today.  At one point, Austin was supposed to get Category one winds (ie, greater than 75mph sustained winds).   The models now have Ike moving east of here.

Hurricanes are highly unpredictable.

Here is a website that my brother sent me via email today:

The wind swath projection is what I've been looking at.

We went by the grocery store this evening.  My wife has her mother coming in from north of Houston, which may be getting Cat 2 severity winds when Ike hits.  It looks like they stocked plenty of water.

We got 4 gallons of water, some milk, and sandwich meat.  Some other supplies.

My son says that CP High School is planning on hosting people coming in from Houston area tomorrow.  I think they plan to release the students around noon.

No word if the place where I work will be releasing people early from work.

We're under a wind advisory, starting at 7pm this evening and lasting through 7pm on Saturday.

This is one of the reasons that I will probably take off early today--batten down the hatches around the house before we start feeling the effects of Ike.
