I've decided that it would be interesting to guess as to when lizphair.com will work.
I'm going to place my bet on July 13th.  Anyone else have any ideas?

My guess is this fall.  Around the time of the album of new material (aka album six).

One good time would have been coincidental with the rerelease of Exile, but that didn't happen.

Another thing that needs to happen is the redesign of her myspace page.  The overall layout looks very Somebody's Miracle and it probably should look like something else.

The something else will probably look a lot like the design for album six, hence, my guess that we won't see the new lizphair.com until around the time of the release of album six.

Just my guess, for whatever it's worth...

Hey, I've been noticing ads on facebook that are promoting the reissue of Exile.  If you click on the ad, it takes you to lizphair.com.

Hmm, this would tend to suggest that lizphair.com might be undergoing a makeover sooner that I thought.  The only real content on lizphair.com is the trailer for Guyville Redux and a pointer to the myspace page.

Unless they are prohibited from directly pointing to myspace on facebook.  I dunno.  I do know that the Liz Phair facebook page does directly reference the myspace page.

You never know with websites though.  The next generation of my favorite computer game comes out next year and the company made a big stink about launching the website in March, and since then they haven't updated it ONCE.  (sigh)  So just because they're calling attention to the website doesn't mean anything's going to happen there anytime soon.

Exactly- it really is impossible to say.  I honestly expect it to just be working on one random day.

Well, in order for an ad to really be effective, it helps if it provides a link with actual useful information.

Providing a link to "Coming Soon" isn't effective.

This is kind of unrelated to this topic, but it doesn't deserve a whole new thread.

I registered for Liz Phair Forum on July 8th, and am still awaiting confirmation.  I understand that the whole official Liz Phair Internet website is causing some problems, but I know that the board is super active.  I check on it occassionally.  just a warning to all of you over at LPF, I will be there.  And when i get there, things won't really change all that much.  =)

The message board is "run" by EMI Capitol Records.  You have to look at the terms and conditions to find a statement that reveals that information.

Liz is no longer with EMI/Capitol Records, so I don't ever expect lizphair.com to point to that message board again.  I keep hoping that  ATO Records sets up a new message board.  Maybe this will happen when the new lizphair.com arrives.

The admins are NOT actively monitoring the board.  MeSmErIzInG_ToO is Ken Lee and he's the one that logs in several times a day and deletes the spam that shows up.  I have an incredible amount of respect for Ken because he really cares about Liz.  I  have thought on several occasions that I needed to create a "thank you" thread for Ken.  He really is super.

The problem is that that job needs about 2-3 more active moderators.  BrettM has started showing up, but was MIA for at least 18 months.  I haven't seen much evidence that BrettM has started posting again.   I personally like JOG, but he lost the will to keep up with the SPAM.   That leaves the job completely with Ken, which is unfair to Ken and unfair to the message board.

Be really careful over there.  If you need a more detailed explanation, send me a PM.

I'm beginning to think that there's very little priority on getting lizphair.com up and running.  I don't expect it to be updated anytime soon.

I was working on getting the Liz Phair music videos sorted and I was able to prototype it on a message board (phpbb seems to be the best message board for embedded YouTube videos within posts).

The Liz Phair myspace page seems to be the place to get updates.

Yesterday, I saw the same four events in October repeated several times.  I was wondering if they were planning on providing some more shows, but then it disappeared.

Your best bet seems to be to monitor the Liz Phair myspace page:
http://www.myspace.com/lizphair.

By the way, I do like the Quick Reply that seems to be built in to smf message boards (although you DO have to enable it within your control panel) and phpbb hasn't seemed to get the Quick Reply working, even with version 3.

I am beginning to believe that the new "temporary" lizphair.com is already falling into disrepair.  It just isn't being updated, and there's just ONE PAGE.

The page still lists the August shows as well as the October shows already over with.

The myspace page removed all of the out-of-date information almost immediately, but lizphair.com still has the old stuff.

I'm not sure why they initially fixed it up (partially) and then have seemingly abandoned it.

Doesn't make sense.

One of the things that I don't think that lizphair.com will contain anymore is a complete set of videos for the Liz Phair songs that were made into videos.  If you go to ATO Records, you'll just notice an emphasis on Exile and the sixth album.

WIth that in mind, I tried getting a collection of the Liz Phair videos from YouTube.  I placed all of them together on my message board, much like the Tina Fey appearances as Sarah Palin on SNL.

Nice link!

I know this unrelated, but I didn't think it deserved its own thread.  For an essay on one of y finals, I based it around Liz Phair! hahaha!  It was about how volunteerism creates a raised social consciousness.  So, the introduction begins explaining the little blurb she gives about how we raise our consciousness and then the whole universe's consciousness is raised.  It ended explaining how Liz Phair was part of the feminist empowerment movement in the 1990's.  It was a damn good essay, but I'll probably lose some points for being off-topic! Oh well!

hahaha!

Still, I patiently am awaiting the next album.  Or any real news about it...

C'mon Liz!!!

Hey, cool post.

Off topic posts don't generally bother me unless they're really WAY OFF TOPIC or Way self-serving.

Panther, your posts have always been great.

I'm looking forward to the new album.  Yep, it will definitely be next year before we get it (as reported by Ken Lee on Mesmerizing website).  It's the holiday season,  so I don't expect too much news until January at the earliest.

Keep the faith.  I'm looking forward to the accompanying tour.  Something more that 4 shows every 2 months only in blue states.  I think that it will happen, just not in 2008.
