If Girlysound came out now ...

... how do you think it would be done? How would it be distributed. Via internet, obviously, but in what form? Would they be up on a MySpace page? And would they have the same opportunity to find their audience?

And unrelated but related, have any of you ever heard of Creative Commons and what they're trying to do? As I understand it, if Liz signed a Creative Commons contract on the Girlysound recordings, that would explicitly give permission to people to distribute them, remix them, repackage them, etc., in whatever form they wanted. Or she could make stipulations that the works only be non-commercial, or that they also be freely available under Creative Commons. So it just seems like the kind of thing that would be in the spirit in which she put them out in the first place: to get known, to get heard, and to express her ideas. It also seems like the best form going for trying to undermine the major labels and give artists more power, especially given the current ease of distribution. Anyone ever hear if she's been quoted on the subject?

Really looking forward to the "Guyville" re-release! I haven't been listening to that stuff for months so it'll sound fresh to death. Can't wait to be back in 27D.
